No. 24 Skidmore Slips By Garnet Tennis 6-3

SWARTHMORE, Pa. - Senior Rachel Wallwork and freshman Emily Rosenblum both picked up singles and doubles on the day, but No. 24 Skidmore took the remaining six points en route to a 6-3 victory over the Swarthmore women's tennis team on Sunday afternoon from the College.

The loss snaps a four-match winning streak for the Garnet (6-3, 4-0).

The combo of Wallwork and Rosenblum got things started off right for the Garnet, easily toppling the No. 9 Northeast regionally ranked Skidmore pair of Danika Robison/NatalyMendoza 8-3 to take No. 1 doubles. Skidmore would respond, however, taking No. 2  and No. 3 doubles to take a 2-1 advantage.

In singles play, it was Wallwork and Rosenblum again getting it done for Swat. Wallwork - ranked No. 5 in the South Atlantic region for singles play - dispatched the No. 24 player in the Northeast region Danika Robinson 6-2, 6-1. In No. 3 singles, Rosenblum earned a hard-fought 3-6, 6-2,7-5 win over Laura Attley.

But those were all the points the Garnet could muster against the Thoroughbreds. Rachel Loeb defeated Swarthmore sophomore Rosie DuBrin 6-0, 6-4 in No. 2 singles and Skidmore swept singles four through six to earn the win.

Swarthmore will look to remain unbeaten in Centennial Conference play when it travels to Washington on Wednesday (3:30).
