Trio of Hat Tricks Leads McDaniel Past Garnet Women 16-3

WESTMINSTER, Md. - McDaniel's Lisa Jurd, Brittany Baer and Anna Beaudry each recorded hat tricks as the homestanding Green Terror defeated the Swarthmore College women's lacrosse team 16-3 on Saturday afternoon in Centennial Conference action.

Junior Amy Vachal, junior Emily Evans and sophomore Marie Mutryn all found the back of the net for the Garnet (6-3, 0-3), who took the early 1-0 lead thanks to Evans' goal, but saw the Green Terror (1-2, 7-4) score nine of the game's next 10 goals.

Evans opened the game with her eighth goal of the season.

Evans opened the game with a free-position goal in the fifth minute to give the Garnet the early 1-0 lead. But the Green Terror had the quick and decisive answer, scoring five unanswered goals - the first two from Beaudry - over the next 10 minutes to take a 5-1 lead 15 minutes into the first half.

Vachal's 17th goal of the season cut the lead to 5-2 in the 17th minute of play, but McDaniel scored four more goals to close out the half with a 9-2 lead.

It was all McDaniel in the second half, as the Green Terror outscored the Garnet 7-1 in the second stanza. Mutryn scored the Garnet's lone second-half goal in the 48th minute of play.

In goal for Swat, senior Allison Grein finished the game with 13 saves.

Swarthmore hosts defending national champion No. 2 Franklin & Marshall on Tuesday from Clothier Field. Action begins at 7:00 p.m. and an viewed via the Garnet Sports Network.
