Garnet Baseball Sweeps Vassar to Break Six-Game Skid

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – The Swarthmore baseball team (5-6) is back on the winning track thanks to a clean sweep of the Vassar College Brewers (2-4) on Saturday afternoon at Prentiss Field. The Garnet held the Brewers to three runs for a 9-3 win in game one and held on for a 10-7 win in game two.

SWARTHMORE, Pa. – An enticing final minute surge by the Swarthmore College men’s lacrosse team was not enough to overcome a four-goal run by No. 10 Dickinson in the second half as the Garnet fell to the Red Devils 7-6 on Saturday afternoon from Clothier Field Stadium. The Garnet (1-4, 0-2) fell in the final seconds to the nationally-ranked Red Devils (8-0, 1-0), as senior Gavin Musynske’s potential game-tying goal missed the back of the net by mere inches, nailing the post as the final seconds ticked away.

MINNEAPOLIS – Swarthmore College senior women’s swimmer Anne Miller finished in 11th place in the 200 yard butterfly at the NCAA Division III Swimming & Diving Championships on Friday evening, finishing in a time of 2:04.59 to earn All-America Honorable Mention honors, marking the seventh time the senior has reached All-America status in her career.

Stockbower Named to WBCA All-America Honorable Mention Team

Miller Earns Sixth Career All-America Honor With Record-Breaking Time in 100 Butterfly

MINNEAPOLIS – Swarthmore College senior women’s swimmer Anne Miller finished in 14th place in the 100 yard butterfly at the NCAA Division III Swimming & Diving Championships on Thursday evening, touching the wall in a Swarthmore College record-breaking time of 56.66, earning All-America honors for the sixth time in her illustrious career.

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Swarthmore women’s lacrosse team (3-0) stretched its winning streak to three on Thursday night with a decisive 17-5 victory over the Moravian Greyhounds (2-3). Sophomore Annelise Mowry led the Garnet attack with four goals and two assists.

Blue Jays Sweep Garnet Softball, 5-4 and 9-1

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. – It was a tough day on the diamond for the Swarthmore College softball team, as the Garnet dropped a pair of games to homestanding Elizabethtown, 5-4 and 9-1 on Thursday afternoon. In the first game, Swat (4-8) saw a 3-1 sixth inning lead slip away thanks to four runs from Blue Jays (7-2-1) in the bottom of the frame, while in the second game, Blue Jays’ starting pitcher Emily Vogel limited the Garnet to just one hit innings over five innings.

Junior first baseman Krista Scheirer paced the offense, finishing 4-of-6 for the day including a double – the Garnet’s only extra base hit for the day. Freshmen Danielle Seltzer and Angelica Sanchez each finished with three hits in the first game.
