Garnet Tennis Shines in 7-2 Victory Over Gettysburg

SWARTHMORE, Pa. - Playing outdoors on the Faulkner Courts on a gorgeous first day of spring, the Swarthmore College women's tennis team (4-2, 2-0) played beautifully, defeating Centennial rival Gettysburg 7-2 on Saturday afternoon from the College.

Wallwork picked up a doubles victory for the Garnet.

Sophomore Rosie DuBrin propelled the Garnet with No. 1 singles and doubles victories. In singles play, she defeated the Bullets' Kelly Eurlich 6-2, 6-2, while in No. 2 doubles play, she paired up with junior Luann Cignavitch to defeat the Bullets' pait in 8-5 in a hard-fought match.

Senior Rachel Wallwork - the two-time reigning Centennial Conference Performer of the Year - teamed up with freshman Emily Rosenblum to top the Gettysburg combo of Eurich and Megahan Kelly 8-1 in No. 1 doubles to get the Garnet off on the right foot.

The Garnet swept singles two through four - with Rosenblum (6-1, 6-0), freshman Kelsey Johnson  (6-2, 6-1) and junior Alexis Hickman (3-6, 7-5, 10-5) all picking up victories.

Swarthmore returns to Centennial action next Saturday with a trip to McDaniel (1:00 p.m.)
