Bodur Hits Game-Winner as Red-Hot Garnet Women Defeat Dickinson 72-70

CARLISLE, Pa. – Junior Ceylan Bodur hit the game-winning shot with four seconds remaining as the red-hot Swarthmore College women’s basketball team held off a furious Dickinson rally in final minutes to hang on for a 72-70 victory on Tuesday night from Carlisle. Swarthmore (6-7, 3-5) has now won four of its last five games since the start of the new year, including back-to-back Centennial Conference games for the first time this season.

Gates Big Day Not Enough as No. 13 Franklin & Marshall Crushes Garnet 75-51

SWARTHMORE, Pa. – Freshman Will Gates scored a game-high 27 points and pulled down seven rebounds for the Swarthmore men’s basketball team (2-10, 1-4), but No. 13 Franklin & Marshall saw three different players score above 17 points, as the Diplomats cruised to a 75-51 victory over Swat on Saturday afternoon from Tarble Pavilion.

GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Five different Gettysburg players scored in double figures to pace a potent offense that shot 56 percent from the field, as the Bullets defeated the Swarthmore College men’s basketball team 80-63 in Centennial Conference action on Wednesday evening.

Upset Bid Comes Up Short as Garnet Women Fall at Unbeaten Gettysburg 51-48

GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Down 10 points late in the second half, the Swarthmore College women’s basketball team (4-7, 1-5) stormed all the way back and had a chance to tie homestanding Gettysburg on its final possession, but three-point attempts from freshman Eliza Polli and junior Ceylan Bodur rimmed out as time expired, and the undefeated Bullets (11-0, 6-0) hung on to defeat the Garnet 51-48 on Wednesday evening.

Kevin Friedenberg Named Inside Lacrosse Preseason All-America Honorable Mention

BALTIMORE – Senior goalie Kevin Friedenberg of the Swarthmore College men’s lacrosse team has been named preseason All-America Honorable Mention by InsideLacorsse, the organization announced recently.

Friedenberg, a senior captain from Needberg, Massachusetts was one of the top goalies in the Centennial Conference in 2009, sporting a conference-best 7.12 goal-against average and conference-second best .625 save percentage while earning All-Centennial honors.

Stockbower Leads Swarthmore Past Catholic 65-57 To Claim Championship

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Junior Kathryn Stockbower scored 23 points and pulled down a season-high 20 rebounds as the Swarthmore College women’s basketball team (4-6, 1-4) defeated host Catholic 65-57 to claim first place in the Catholic University/Fairfield Inn Women’s Basketball Classic on Monday afternoon.
