Colombo Nets Game-Winning Goal as No. 17 Garnet Beat McDaniel 2-1

SWARTHMORE, Pa. – Junior Megan Colombo netted the game-winning goal in the 80th minute as the No. 17 Swarthmore College women’s soccer team went on the road and defeated McDaniel 2-1 on Saturday afternoon.
Colombo’s late goal came after McDaniel had tied the game with a goal by Jessica Peyton in the 77th minute. But Colombo and Garnet were undaunted with the late tie on the road, scoring just three minutes later when Colombo’s shot hit both a McDaniel defender and goalkeeper before finding the back of the net.

Volleyball Defeats McDaniel 3-1; Move to 3-0 in Conference

WESTMINSTER, Md. – Sophomore Genny Pezzola had 23 kills and 15 digs, freshman Allie Coleman had 30 assists and junior Sarah Lambert had seven service aces as the red-hot Swarthmore College volleyball defeated McDaniel 3-1 (24-26, 25-16, 25-20, 26-24). With the win, the Garnet move to 3-0 in the Centennial Conference and 13-5 overall, with both totals already equaling the most the program has had since 2006.

McMinn Finishes in Top 10 To Pace Cross Country at Paul Short Run

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Freshman John McMinn continued the outstanding start to his collegiate career, covering the course of the Men’s White Race at the Paul Short Run in a time of 26:21 , good for ninth place at the nationally-renown race on Friday afternoon from Lehigh University. As a team, the Garnet finished in fifth place with a total of 186 points. For McMinn, this is the third time in three races – the first three at Swarthmore – that he has been the Garnet’s top finisher.

Rose Leads Cross Country at Paul Short Run

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – For the second consecutive meet, sophomore Hannah Rose was the top finisher for the Swarthmore women’s cross country team, finishing in 75th place with a time of 23:18 to pace the Garnet at the Women’s Brown Race at the Paul Short Run on Friday afternoon from the campus of Lehigh University. As a team, the Garnet finished in 31st place with a total of 713 points in the 6K run.
