Winning Streak Snapped As Volleyball Falls to Gettysburg 3-0

GETTYSBURG, Pa. -  The Swarthmore College volleyball team (18-7, 6-2) saw its season-high five-game winning streak come to an end as the Garnet fell to Gettysburg 3-0 on Saturday afternoon. Sophomore Genny Pezzola led Swat with 13 kills and eight digs.

The Garnet went on the road to Gettysburg only to suffer a tough conference loss in three sets 25-20, 25-19 and 25-20.  Despite the loss, Swarthmore put up some good numbers as Pezzola had eight digs and two aces to add to her 13 kills.  Freshman Allie Coleman was the setup for most of Pezzola's attack with 20 assists.

Sophomore Hillary Santana carried the Garnet defense with 15 digs.  Pezzola and Coleman combined for 13 digs.

The loss puts Swarthmore in a tie with Gettysburg for the third place spot in the Centennial Conference.  The Garnet has two regular season matches left to determine its spot in the playoffs.

Swarthmore will visit Haverford on Wednesday October 28th test their play against the Conference favorite.  The Garnet hit the court at 7 PM.
