Marie Mutryn Named Centennial Conference Defensive Player of the Week

LANCASTER, Pa. - Sophomore goalkeeper Marie Mutryn of the Swarthmore women's soccer team was named the Centennial Conference Defensive Player of the Week for the week ending September 21, the conference announced on Monday.

Mutryn (Rexford, N.Y./Niskayuna) was terrific in goal last week as the Garnet went 1-1 against a pair of Top 25 opponents.  She turned away all six shots as Swarthmore defeated No. 25 Dickinson, 1-0, in the Conference opener.  She  made a career-high 12 saves in a 2-0 loss to No. 8 College of New Jersey.  For the week, she had a 90.0 save percentage. For the season, Mutryn is sporting a 0.70 goals against average and .881 save percentage.

The No. 15/19 Garnet return to action on Thursday with a trip to local-rival  Widener. Action is slated to begin at 7:00 p.m.
