Stone and Mayer Bacon Earn Top Ten Times

EWING, N.J. -- Two Swarthmore track and field student-athletes posted top-ten program finishes at the annual Lion's Invitational hosted by the College of New Jersey on Saturday.

Senior Natalie Stone (Philadelphia, Pa. / Friends Select) finished seventh overall in the women’s 400-meter dash. Her 1:01.92 personal-best keeps her in the tenth spot for the program list.

Also posting a top-ten time was sophomore Chris Mayer-Bacon (Wenonah, N.J. / Gateway Regional) who crossed the 400-meter hurdle cross line at 58.46. With the personal-best Mayer-Bacon entered the list in the eighth slot.

In the women’s 1,500-meter run senior Bess Ritter (Quaker Hill, Conn. / Waterford) finished second with a time of 4:55.38.

Junior Andrew Van Buren (Hudson, Ohio / Western Reserve Academy) finished ninth in the men’s 3,000-steeplechase with 11:00.32 showing on the clock, Zach Gershenson ’12 (Hershey, Pa. / Hershey) was just a step behind him clocking in at 11:02.04.

The Garnet will train all week in preparations for the Centennial Conference Championships next weekend. The three day meet starting on Friday night will be hosted at Franklin & Marshall.
