Diplomats Dual Garnet for Win
SWARTHMORE, Pa. -- Visiting Franklin & Marshall defeated Swarthmore 6-3 on Saturday afternoon in Centennial Conference women's tennis action at the Faulkner Tennis Courts.
Swarthmore (5-10, 4-6 CC) wrapped up two early wins in doubled action. In the No. 1 slot senior Jennie Park (Rockford, Ill. / Guilford) and sophomore Luann Cignavitch (Charleston, S.C. / Porter-Gaud School) defeated the Diplomat pair with 8-5 score. Sophomore Jennifer Trinh (Havertown, Pa. / Haverford) and freshman Cindy Luu (St. Petersburg, Fla. / St. Petersburg) won their first doubles match of the season with a 8-3 score.
Park had the only win in singles for the Garnet, she earned the win after Erica Wood retired following the first set due to the hot weather conditions.
The Diplomats (3-12, 3-7) would win the following five singles matches for the win.
Before the match started both senior captains, Park and Marissa Lee were honored in the annual senior day celebration.
