Red Devils Steam Garnet

CARLISE, Pa. -- The Swarthmore women's lacrosse team fell to Dickinson in a 18-7 Centennial Conference contest on Saturday afternoon.

Dickinson improved to a 10-6 overall and a 6-3 Centennial record as 13 individual players registered goals while Swarthmore fell to 9-8, 1-8 CC. The Garnet were led by freshman attack Annalise Mowry (Alpharetta, Ga. / Milton) who had three points tallying a team-high two goals on the afternoon.

The Red Devil offense dominated the field in the first 23 minutes scoring 12 goals. At 4:34 Mowry notched her first goal of the game off a feed from sophomore Emily Evans (Atlanta, Ga. / North Springs).

Dickinson scored back-to-back goals but with only 28 seconds left in the half freshman Marie Mutryn (Rexford, N.Y. / Nisayuna) registered the second Garnet goal with Mowry assisting.

The second half started with Swarthmore scoring the first three goals pushing the score to 14-5 in favor of the Red Devils. All three goals by senior Melinda Petre (Columbia, Md. / Atholton), sophomore Amy Vachal (Somerset, N.J. / Rutgers Prep) and senior Anna de Regt (Redmond, Wash. / Overlake School) were unassisted. With 14 minutes remaining freshman midfielder Lara Hasychak (Hollis, N.H. / Brookline) notched her first collegiate goal making the score 15-6. Following three goals by the Red Devils senior defender Kelsey Hatzell (Havertown, Pa. / Havertown) assisted Mowry with only two seconds remaining on the clock.

Garnet sophomore Jean Dahlquist (Wauwatosa, Wis. / Milwaukee Arts) made nine stops in her third appearance in goal.

Swarthmore will return to Clothier Field on Tuesday, April 21st to host Neumann College at 7:00 p.m. Before the game the Garnet will hold their annual senior night celebration.
