Stockbower Named WBCA All-Region
LIBURN, Ga. -- Swarthmore sophomore forward Kathryn Stockbower has been selected as All-America finalist as announced by the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) on Tuesday afternoon.
Stockbower (Ft. Washington, Pa. / Upper Dublin), the Centennial Conference Player of the Year, is currently in the running for selection to the 10-member State Farm Coaches' All-America Team. The Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA), in cooperation with State Farm, announced the finalists for the 2009 State Farm Coaches' All-America Basketball Team for the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division III.
There are 42 finalists, who are voted upon by WBCA member coaches in each of the eight WBCA geographical regions. Stockbower is joined by fellow Centennial player, senior Lauren Boyle, who helped Muhlenberg capture the 2009 Centennial Conference Championship.
Stockbower was a unanimous First-Team selection after leading the Conference in rebounds (12.6 per game) while ranking second in points (17.7 per game) during 18 Centennial contests. Overall, Stockbower ranked second in all of Division III with 13.6 boards per game and was in the top 50 with 17.7 points per game. She posted 21 double-doubles for the second straight season (ranking second in Division III) and at Haverford on February 21, broke the Centennial record for consecutive games scoring in double figures with her 47th consecutive games. Stockbower tied a Conference record and broke a school record on December 2nd corralling 24 rebounds in a 71-69 win at McDaniel.
