#20 Sewanee Tops Garnet Despite Strong Efforts
SEWANEE, Tenn. -- The Sewanee women's tennis team, now ranked 20th nationally, hosted Swarthmore and continued on their win streak to four with a 7-2 win on the Mountain.
No. 1 doubles matched proved to be a two-hour pro set battle in which Swarthmore's number ones, junior Rachel Wallwork (Washington, D.C. / Georgetown Day) and senior Jennie Park (Rockford, Ill. / Guildford) edged out Sewanee' Jordan Casey and Michelle Flume 9-7 in the tiebreaker after a marathon Sewanee match point at 6-5.
In singles action sophomore Luann Cignavitch (Charleston, S.C. Porter-Gaud School) defeated Devin Tellatin with a pair of 6-3 scores in the number three spot.
The Garnet will continue their spring break trip with a match at #30 Rhodes. The teams will hit the courts at 4:00 p.m.
