Casey Hits Past Cardinals

QUEEN CREEK, Ariz. -- The Swarthmore baseball team earned a 15-12 win over Wesleyan on Monday afternoon at Queen Creek High School.

The Garnet (2-3) evened out the three game series with the Cardinals (1-1), each team with a win. They will match-up again on Thursday, March 12th for a double header at Boulder Creek High School.

Swarthmore senior Conor Casey (San Francisco, Calif. / Lowell) earned five runs this afternoon to mark his 100th career hit. Lamb led the Garnet with a double and a triple while junior Wiley Archibald (Berkeley, Calif. / The College Preparatory School) had a two run pinch hit double. First year Mike Waterhouse (Weston, Conn. / Weston) collected two hits on the afternoon against the Cardinals pitching staff.

Garnet pitcher Dylan Smith ’09 (Patchogue, N.Y. / Patchogue-Medford) collected his first collegiate win without letting any hits or runs.

Swarthmore will take on Pitt-Bradford on Tuesday, March 10th to conclude their two-game spring break series. First pitch is scheduled for 12:00 p.m. (Mountain Standard Time).
