Grigsby Three-Pointer Beats Terror, Stockbower Ties Record

WESTMINSTER, Md. -- Garnet senior guard Melissa Grigsby sank a last-second three-pointer to earn the Swarthmore women's basketball team a 71-69 win over McDaniel as they opened up the Centennial Conference schedule Tuesday evening at the Gill Center.

A nail-biter till the end, Swarthmore (1-3, 1-0 CC) came back from a six-point deficit in the final six minutes of the game to pick-up their first win of the season. With a total of 16 points, Grigsby (West Chester, Pa. / West Chester East) was one of three Garnet players to score in double-digits, while dishing out six assists. Junior forward Pam Costello (Havertown, Pa. / Haverford) picked-up her first double-double of the season with 14 points and 10 rebounds.

Adding another double-double to her current streak of 14, sophomore Kathryn Stockbower (Ft. Washington, Pa. / Upper Dublin) collected a game-high 24 rebounds and had 16 points.  The 24 rebounds breaks the school record of 23, previously held by Nancy Rosenbaum '92 and ties the current Centennial record held by five other players (most recently done by F&M's Brittany Braxton on Nov. 29, 2006).

Swarthmore continue their Conference schedule on Thursday, December 4 when they host #21 Muhlenberg. Tip-off in Tarble Pavilion is set for 7:00 p.m.
