Cyclones Twist-up Win Over Garnet

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- Swarthmore baseball (5-3) closed their spring break trip with a 14-4 loss to Centenary College (1-2) on Wednesday afternoon at North West Park.

Garnet catcher Travis Allen ’08 (Suffield, Conn. / Loomis Chaffee) went 2 for 3 at the plate and picked up an RBI. Also going 2 for 3 at the plate was third baseman Conor Casey ’09 (San Francisco, Calif. / Lowell), who picked up an RBI and scored once.

On the rainy afternoon, pitcher Neil Mejia ’11 (Oak Park, Ill. / Oak Park River Forest) fought the elements. The freshman (1-1) pitched the first two innings and only gave up one hit while suffering the loss.

Swarthmore posted a record of 5-2 during their week long trip in sunny north Florida. The Garnet return home to host the City College of New York on Sunday, March 16 with a doubleheader at 12:00 pm.
