Heaney, Berk Named All-Centennial

Heaney

LANCASTER, Pa.-- Swarthmore libero Erin Heaney has been named to the 2007 All-Centennial Conference second team and middle blocker Karen Berk was selected honorable mention, as voted by the conference coaches.

Heaney, a junior captain, (pictured above) led the Conference with 5.18 digs a game in 2007. Her season total of 492 digs broke the school record for digs in a season, previously held by Patrice Berry ’06 (488 digs). Heaney was recently named to the Conference Academic Honor Roll for the second year in a row.

Berk

Berk (picture to the left), a senior, led the Garnet defense with 1.03 blocks per game (second in the Centennial) and recorded 2.17 kills per game, third on the team. The middle blocker etched her place in school and Conference history, completing her career as third all-time in the Centennial for career blocks while holding school records for blocks in a season (133) and each of the career totals—solo (163), assisted (285) and total (448).

Swarthmore completed the 2007 season with an overall record of 9-18 and finished seventh in the Centennial with a 4-6 mark.
