Golf: Garnet Roll Low at St. David’s
WAYNE, Pa. - The Garnet had all cylinders clicking on Monday afternoon, rolling to the second-best team score of the season while defeating Arcadia and Eastern in a tri-match at St. David's Golf Club.
Swarthmore won its fourth match of the spring season with a team score of 311, besting Arcadia (365) and Eastern (372).
Freshman David Lau led the way with a three-over par 73, the lowest score of the day. The freshman's score was his second lowest of the season; Lau shot a 72 at Rolling Green on March 20. Lau finished just ahead of Garnet senior Michael Cullinan, who took second place with a 74.
Swarthmore junior Eric Zwick, competing as an individual, was next with a five-over par 75. Zwick leads the Garnet with a 78.2 stroke average in2006, followed by Cullinan with an 80.17 average.
Junior Ed Goldstein recorded a 79 for the Garnet, the second time he has broken 80 this season. Swarthmore junior Zach Moody carded an 85 to round out the Garnet scoring, while freshman Michael Bernasek posted an 87.
Arcadia was led by Sean Flynn with an 84 while Eastern got an 87 from Drew Krupp and an 88 from his brother, Jared.
Swarthmore's had to pull out of the Widener Invitational on Thursday, April 13, but will resume its 2006 schedule on Monday, April 17 at the Franklin & Marshall Invite to be played at Bent Creek Country Club in Lititz, Pa.
