Men’s Tennis: Garnet Up-End #25 Lions
SWARTHMORE, Pa. -- After blazing through the doubles' matches on Sunday afternoon, the Garnet (4-9) trumped the 25th-ranked College of New Jersey Lions 5-2. Brian Park '06 and Jon Reiss '07 battled during both their doubles' and singles' matches, winning both sides.
Swarthmore's No. 1 doubles pair, Zac Rodd '06 and Park, cruised past their opponents with a solid 8-1 victory. The third game alone could have determined the outcome of the duel. During the game, Rodd was serving. Park made the right calls to his teammate, and Rodd was able to dish out three aces in a game.
Throughout his singles match against New Jersey's Justin Cook, Park held the reins, winning 6-4, 6-1.
The No. 2 doubles pair of Reiss and Jonathan Lo '08 played an impressive match, beating their opponents 8-4.
In his singles match against Michael Klimchak, Reiss rallied back from a set deficit to win the match 5-7, 6-2, 6-0. It is the seventh straight win for Reiss in 2006.
On Friday, April 14, Swarthmore will travel to Maryland to play #20 Washington (Md.). The match will commence at 4:00 p.m.
