Men’s Track & Field: Garnet Strong in 800, 5000 at Danny Curran Invite
CHESTER, Pa. - Garnet distance runners Jon Shoop '08, Ross Weller '08, and Vernon Chaplin ran in the top ten of the 5,000 meters at the Danny Curran Invitational hosted by Widener University on Saturday.
Shoop led the trio home with a fifth place finish in a time of 15:43.40. Weller (15:44.70) finshed a step ahead Chaplin (15:45.70) in seventh place.
Senior Paul Thibodeau (4.11.03) ran 16th out of 53 runners in the 1,500 meters followed in by teammate Adam Hunt '06 in 18th with a time of 4:12.28.
Swarthmore harriers Conor Darby '09 (2:04.01), Dillon McGrew '07 (2.04.82), Rory Stackpole '09 (2:08.32), and Matt Schiller '07 (2:16.02) competed in the 800 meter run.
Swarthmore senior sprinter Tyler Lyson posted solid times in the 200 meters (24.02) and 400 meters (54.22).
Swarthmore next competes on Saturday, April 8th at the Osprey Invitational on the campus of Richard Stockton College. Events start at 10:00 a.m.
