Graffeo Grabs Another Personal Best
Sam Graffeo '07 posted her personal-best in the shot put for the second consecutive week, leading the Garnet women at the Grizzly Invite hosted by Ursinus College on Saturday afternoon.
Graffeo placed fourth out of twenty-one competitors, recording a mark of 11.02 meters (36'2"). That toss beat her previous best (34' 9 3/4") and gave Graffeo sole possession of third place all-time in Swarthmore track and field history.
The other field participants representing Swarthmore produced encouraging results as well. Long jumpers Rebecca Burrows '08 (4.53 meters) and Jennifer Stevenson '06 (4.50 meters) finished fourth and fifth, respectively, out of twenty-three competitors.
High jumper Jessica Zagory '05 placed fourth out of twelve jumpers, clearing a height of 1.52 meters in the process, while junior Emily Conlon fired the javelin 26.01 meters to earn a spot in the top 15.
Kavita Hardy '08 led the runners with a fourth place finish in the 800 meter race, clocking in at 2:25.30. Debbie Farrelly '06 (above) continued to impress, posting the tenth-fastest time out of thirty-seven runners in the 1500 meter race. Farrelly's time of 5:04.17 sets a new personal-best for the junior.
