Blue Jays take Two from Garnet
Nationally-ranked Johns Hopkins won both ends of a Centennial Conference double header in Baltimore, Md., defeating Swarthmore 12-1 and 25-0 on Sunday afternoon.
An injury-stricken Garnet pitching staff, playing their fifth game in three days, had a tough day against the vaunted Blue Jay lineup, owners of a .333 team batting average at the start of the week. Giving up big-run innings did in Swarthmore (4-14, 2-6 CC), as Johns Hopkins (15-5, 5-3 CC) posted a ten-run inning in game one and followed up with a seven-run second frame in game two.
Swarthmore third baseman, and Baltimore native Andy Bender '08 plated the Garnet run in the first game, lofting a fly ball deep enough to sacrifice home catcher Travis Allen '08 in the seventh.
The Garnet return to action in short time, travelling back to Maryland on Tuesday, April 12th for a 3:30 p.m. ball game at Washington College.
