Garnet Slide By Rangers
In an unusual situation, Swarthmore defeated an opponent they never actually met. Due to the impending snowstorm both teams decided to swim the meet in its own pools, Drew on Friday night and Swarthmore on Saturday. Once the times were compiled it was the Garnet that earned a 114-85 victory over the Rangers.
Ben Morgan '05 was a double-winner capturing the 100 backstroke in 1:00.48 and the 400 IM in 4:33.19, while Andrew Koczo '07 won the 100 breaststroke (1:03.65) and swam on the winning 200 freestyle relay (1:33.45) with Jonathan Augat '07, Andrew McKay '07, and Andrew Frampton '08. Mike Auerbach '05 also picked up a win in the 200 butterfly touching the wall first in 2:08.92.
The Garnet showed its depth sweeping the 100 backstroke, the 100 breaststroke and the 200 butterfly.
Morgan set the pace in the 100 back to lead the sweep ahead of Jeff Schneider '05 and Andrew Hermann '08 while Koczo finished ahead of Kaena Horowitz '06 and Anders Taylor '07 in the 100 breaststroke.
Auerbach made it three straight races with a sweep as he finished ahead of Reid Johnson '08 and Frampton in the 200 butterfly.
