Garnet Bury Rangers
In an unusual situation, Swarthmore defeated an opponent they never actually met. Due to the impending snowstorm both teams decided to swim the meet in its own pools, Drew on Friday night and Swarthmore on Saturday. Once the times were compiled it was the Garnet that earned a 113-79 victory over the Rangers.
Martyna Pospieszalska '06, Whitney Nekoba '08, Jennie Lewis '08 and Sarah Cotcamp '07 were all double-winners for the Garnet.
Pospieszalska and Cotcamp got the Garnet started on the right foot as they teamed with Janice Yeo '07 and Franny Zhang '08 to win the 200 medley relay in 1:58.06.
Nekoba captured the 1000 freestyle in 11:15.91 ahead of Katie Altynova '08 (11:26.3) and Lewis led a sweep of the 200 freestyle in 2:02.08 with Melanie Johncilla '05 (2:04.38) and Katherine Reid '05 (2:05.09).
Pospieszalska then captured the 100 backstroke in 1:06.92 and Michele Hom '07 (1:12.10) and Yeo (1:15.17) went 1-2 in the 100 breaststroke. Cotcamp led a sweep of the 50 freestyle in 25.84 ahead of Kathryn Jantz '05 (26.47) and Nekoba (26.66) and Reid touched the wall first in the 400 IM (4:59.15).
The 200 freestyle relay team of Nekoba, Lewis, Jantz, and Hom closed the meet with victory in 1:44.63.
The Garnet move to 4-3 on the season and travel to Bryn Mawr on Tuesday for a 6 p.m. meet.
