Rangers Stem Tide in OT
Senior captain Matt Gustafson matched his career-high with 37 points, but it was not enough as the Garnet fell to Drew, 75-74 in an overtime thriller in Madison, NJ.
With the game tied at 68-68 at the end of regulation, a Gustafson jumper gave the Garnet a 70-68 lead. Damon DiLorenzo answered with a three point to give the Rangers a lead with 3:51 remaining. A Gustafson layup put the Garnet back on top at 72-71. A Joe Lamson layup put the Rangers ahead by one before Gustafson's third OT bucket gave the Garnet a 74-73 lead. Dave Pepperman scored on a layup with 23 seconds remaining to give Drew a 75-74 advantage. The Garnet had several chances in the games' final seconds but the ball would not drop.
Gustafson also added 11 rebounds for his first double-double of the season while, Dillon McGrew '07 added 10 points. Bob Carella led the rangers with 20 points and Pepperman finished with 10 points.
The Garnet host Neumann on Sunday night at 7:00 pm.
