Garnet Volleyball Clinches Centennial Conference Playoff Spot with 3-0 Win Over Gettysburg

SWARTHMORE, Pa. - The Swarthmore volleyball team (17-8, 7-1 CC) celebrated senior day in style with the a playoff clinching victory in straight sets over the Gettysburg Bullets (14-13, 5-3 CC) on Saturday afternoon before a record-setting crowd in Tarble Pavilion.

The 3-0 (25-21, 25-23, 25-16) victory marks Swat's first over the Bullets in program history.

Senior Sarah Lambert celebrated senior day with 11 digs in the win.

The Garnet showed up to win for visiting friends, family and alumni to kick off Garnet Weekend and senior day, playing its best match of the season in honor of senior Sarah Lambert.

Offensively Swarthmore dominated the Bullets, blasting 46 kills to Gettysburg's 29 and would drop eight service ace to the Bullets' one.

Swat's offensive powers, sophomore Kat Montemurro (15) and junior Genny Pezzola (12) led the squad combining for 27 kills.  Freshman Maggie Duszyk added eight kills in the match.

Sophomore Allison Coleman would set up 41 of Swat's 46 kills.

Pezzola would lead Swarthmore's defense with 13 digs while senior Sarah Lambert would pick up 11 digs in her senior day match.

Junior libero Hillary Santana (9) and Coleman (10) would combine for another 19 digs for the Garnet defense.

Swarthmore will try to continue its Conference run on Wednesday October 27 when it host the rival Haverford Fords.  Play is set to begin at 7:00 PM.
