Swat Volleyball Tops Ursinus in Straight Sets 3-0

COLLEGVILLE, Pa. - The Swarthmore volleyball team (16-8, 6-1 CC) is back to winning fashion after taking down Centennial Conference foe, the Ursinus Bears (9-14, 2-6 CC), in straight sets on Wednesday night in Helfferich Hall.  The 3-0 (25-19, 25-19, 25-20) rout of the Bears was led by sophomore Kathryn Montemurro's 14 kills and .458 hitting percentage.

Pezzola had 12 kills and 17 digs in Swarthmore's win over the Ursinus Bears.

Montemurro and junior Genny Pezzola led the Garnet up front with 26 combined kills as Pezzola would blast 12 kills.

Freshman Danielle Sullivan was untouchable on serves in the match with four service aces as well as adding 10 kills to Swat's 48.

Sophomore setter Allison Coleman had 43 of Swarthmore's 45 assist in the match.

The Garnet defense kept the Bears silent throughout the match as four players would rack up double-digit digs and the team would total 72 digs in the match.

Pezzola led Swarthmore with 17 digs while junior libero Hillary Santana would dig out 13 Ursinus attack attempts. Junior Lisa Shang followed closely with 12 digs.

The Garnet volleyball team faces its toughest matches of the season in the coming weeks, starting out with Conference rival Gettysburg.

Swat will host the Bullets on Saturday October 23 for Senior Day during Homecoming weekend.  Play is set to begin at 1:00 PM.
