Garnet Volleyball Suffers 3-0 Loss to Johns Hopkins

BALTIMORE - Junior Lisa Shang led the Garnet defense with 13 digs but the Swarthmore volleyball team (10-4) would fall in straight sets to Conference foe Johns Hopkins (6-7) on Wednesday night.

Shang led Swarthmore with 13 digs against the Blue Jays.

Freshman Danielle Sullivan (8) and junior Genny Pezzola (7) led the Swat offense with 15 combined kills but it wasn't enough as the Blue Jays would drop 45 kills in the match to Swarthmore's 30.

Sophomore Kat Montemurro would blast six kills and a service ace in the match.

Despite the loss, sophomore Allison Coleman had a great match on offense for Swarthmore recording all 24 of Swats assists.

Shang's 13 digs led the Garnet but Pezzola and junior Hillary Santana would each pick up eight digs to help the defensive stand.

Sullivan would dive for seven digs in the match.

Swat will have a six day break to rebound before it travels to Washington College on Tuesday September 28 to resume Centennial Conference play.  Serves up at 7:00 PM.
