No. 2 Gettysburg Defeats Garnet Lax 19-3

GETTYSBURG, Pa. - Senior Tyler Bradshaw scored his 30th and 31st goals of the 2010 season, but it wasn't enough to handle a powerful Gettysburg offense, as the No. 2 Bullets handled the Swarthmore College men's lacrosse team 19-3 on Saturday evening from the Battlefield.

Senior Anthony Phalen scored the Garnet's only other goal on the day.

Phalen netted a second-period goal for Swat.

The Bullets - who shut out the Garnet in the second half -  were led by Josh Reichert, who scored five goals Pat Sartory,  who netted  four goals and one assist.

Senior goalkeeper Kevin Friedenberg allowed all but one goal for the Garnet (4-8, 1-7) and stopped 10 shots on the day.

The Bullets came out of the gates strong, racking up four goals over the opening 5:15, ultimatley building a 7-0 lead early in the second period. Swat found it's way back thanks to back-to-back goals from Bradshaw, cutting the lead to 7-2.

But the Bullets responded, scoring the next three goals as the lead grew to 10-2, a disadvantage the Garnet could never recover from. Gettysburg shut out Swat over the second half en route to the 19-3 win.

Swarthmore closes out the season next Saturday when rival Haverford comes to Clothier Field.
