Garnet Lax Falls to Green Terror 15-9
WESTMINSTER, Md. - The Swarthmore men's lacrosse team (1-7, 0-5 CC) dropped is seventh straight game on Saturday afternoon as the McDaniel Green Terror (5-4, 2-1 CC) would blow by the Garnet 15-9.
Three Garnet players would net two goals but McDaniel's D.J. Rickels' six goals were too much for Swat. Freshman Wes Marcik, senior Gavin Musynske and sophomore Zach Belden each scored two goals for Swarthmore.
The Green Terror took an early lead with four straight, unanswered goals before senior Anthony Phalen would put the Garnet on the board. Swat would make a comeback attempt in the second quarter with two quick goals in the first three minutes but McDaniel would answer with two of its own.
McDaniel sealed the victory netting six consecutive goals between the second and third quarters, three of them from Rickels.
Swat would make its final push in the fourth scoring the only three goals of the quarter but the Green Terror defense was too much for the Garnet.
Senior goalkeeper Kevin Friedenberg faced 23 shots, keeping 11 out of the net.
The Garnet return to the pitch on Wednesday April 7 for another Centennial Conference matchup with Washington College. Faceoff is slated for 7 PM.
