Swat Tennis Routs Muhlenberg 8-1
ALLENTOWN, Pa. - The Swarthmore College women's tennis team (6-2, 4-0 CC) continued its Centennial Conference dominance with an 8-1 rout of Muhlenberg (3-3, 2-2) on Thursday afternoon.
Swarthmore swept the Mules in doubles play as senior Rachel Wallwork and freshman Emily Rosenblum won the No. 1 matchup 8-4, sophomore Rosie DuBrin and Luann Cignavitch would win the No. 2 matchup 8-5, and junior Alexis Hickman and freshman Kelsey Johnson would win the No. 3 match 8-3.
In singles play, Wallwork then dropped Drukerwith a decisive 6-0, 6-1 No. 1 slot win. The win was Wallwork's 20th consecutive win in Centennial Conference play from the No. 1 position.
After Muhlenberg's Sara Sutker defeated DuBrin in No. 2 singles to keep the Mules slight chance of a victory alive, Swat responded by sweeping the remaining singles.
Rosenblum went on a defeat Danielle Winston 6-2 and 6-1 in the No. 3 slot, followed by wins by Johnson 6-2, 6-3; Hickman 6-0, 6-2 and Cignavitch 6-0, 6-2.
Swat returns to the court on Sunday afternoon as Skidmore visits the Faulkner Courts. Play begins at 12 PM.
