Garnet Women Rout Trine in Spring Break Action, 12-7

HILTON HEAD, S.C. - The Swarthmore women's lacrosse team (2-0) opened its spring break action with a decisive 12-7 victory over the Trine University Thunder (0-2) on Wednesday afternoon in South Carolina.

Sophomore Annelise Mowry recorded her second straight hat trick with three goals in the game.

Offensively, the Garnet only needed the first half to put away the Thunder.  Swarthmore netted 10 goals in the first half and only allowed  six.

Junior Emily Evans added a hat trick of her own to combine with Mowry for six of the Garnet's 12 goals. Freshman Nicole Vanchieri also had two goals in the game.

The second half was all about  defense on both ends of the field.  The Garnet only were only able to put two more goals in the back of the net but only allowed the Thunder to score one goal.

Senior goalkeeper Allison Grein had a spectacular 10 saves in the game.

Junior Amy Vachal, sophomore Marie Mutryn and Maddie Williams and freshman had a solid games for the Garnet in the midfield and combined for 9 won draw controls to get the Swarthmore offense started.

The Swarthmore women continue their spring break competition on Friday March 12 when the face off against the Savannah College of Arts and Design.  Opening draw is slated to fly at 1 PM.
