Garnet Men Surge Into Conference Championships With Strong Showing at Keogh Invitational

HAVERFORD, Pa. - The Swarthmore College men's indoor track team put on a strong performance in its final meet before the Centennial Conference Championships, as several different members of the Garnet met conference qualifying times as Swat competed at the Keogh Invitational from Haverford College on Friday evening.

In the 400 meter dash, junior Dan Kurz led the pack with a time of 55.55, good for 23rd place and a spot in the Centennial championships. Senior Seth Green ran a time of  57.40 for 32nd, just missing out of a Centennial time.

Freshman Brian King led Swat in 800 meter dash,  finishing  in a time of 2:01.8, good for 17th place and meeting Conference qualifying standards. Freshman Cary Chester -who a ran a time of 2:07. 12 - just missed the  qualifying time of 2:07.08.

Freshman Travis Mattingly met qualifying standards in the triple jump with a leap of 37-09.50. Mattingly will join sophomore Daniel Ly - who did not compete this week -  in the triple jump conference championships.

Swat will compete in the Centennial Conference Indoor Championships next Saturday from Haverford.
