Garnet Swimmers Lose Conference Match-Up to Franklin & Marshall

LANCASTER, Pa. - Freshmen Daniel Duncan (200 freestyle) and Jacob Benveniste (500 freestyle) each won individual races for the the Garnet men while senior Anne Miller (200 butterfly) won her individual race for the women but both teams fell short of victory to a tough F&M team.  The men (1-2) lost the meet 117-88 and the women (2-1) lost 122-78.

Swarthmore traveled to Lancaster on Saturday afternoon to swim against a tough Franklin & Marshall team.  The men came away from competition with four individual race victories and the women swam for two individual victories and captured the 200 freestyle relay.

On the women's side of competition, Miller finished first in the 200 butterfly with a time of 2:11.42.

The Garnet men won several of the freestyle races, led by the freshmen Duncan, Benveniste and Josh Satre.  Duncan won the 200 freestyle by two seconds with a time of 1:48 flat, Benveniste recorded a time of 4:59.20 to win the 500 freestyle and Satre touched first in the 1000 freestyle with a time of 10:17.60.  Sophomore Tim Brevart rounded out the freestyle victories with a win in the 50-yard freestyle in 22.33.

The Garnet will look to get back on top when NYU visits Swarthmore for the home-opener from Ware Pool on Saturday November 21st.  Swimming is set to begin at 2 PM.
