Brett McLarney Named Centennial Conference Defensive Player of the Week

LANCASTER, Pa. - Sophomore defender Brett McLarney of the Swarthmore men's soccer team has been named the Centennial Conference Defensive Player of the Week for the week ending October 19, the conference announced on Monday.

Last week, McLarney anchored a Garnet backline that shut out St. Mary's College and Franklin & Marshall by the same 1-0 score, extending the No. 6 Garnet's (13-1, 5-1) winning streak to six matches.

McLarney becomes the second member of the Garnet defense to receive the Conference's weekly award; junior Gage Newman was honored for the week ending September 13. McLarney has previously made the Centennial Conference Defensive Honor Roll for the weeks ending September 29 and October 5.

The Garnet return to action on Saturday when it travels to McDaniel. Action is slated to begin at 1:00 p.m.
