Garnet Cross Country Takes Third at Seven Sisters; Rose, Deluca Named To All-Championship Team

SOUTH HADLEY, Mass.  - Sophomore  Hannah Rose (19:06) crossed the finish-line in fourth place and senior Lauren Deluca took ninth (19:44) as the Swarthmore College women's cross country team finished in third place  at the 28th-Annual Seven Sisters Championship from Mount Holyoke College on Saturday morning. For their Top 10 finish, both Rose and DeLuca were named to the All-Championship team.

Five other members of the Garnet found themselves in the Top 25 of the historic race. Senior Ashley Davies (19:49) just missed a Top 10 finish, coming in 11th. Sophomore Margret Lenfest (19:54) took 15th, junior Becca Woo (20:10) was 17th, senior Nyika Corbett (20:16) came in 20th and sophomore Amanda Eng was 24th (20:34) to round out the Garnet's Top 25 finishers.

As a team, the Garnet finished with 56 points, narrowly edged by second-place Vassar College (54). Wellesley tallied 33 points en route to its first championship since the 2005 season, with five runners finishing in the top ten overall. The Garnet captured first-place in last year's race.

Sophomore Johanna Spangler of Vassar won the individual title with a time of 18:44.

The Garnet return to action on Saturday, October 31 with the Centennial Conference Championships from Dickinson College.
