Field Hockey Falls to Conference Rival Muhlenberg 4-1
ALLENTOWN, Pa. - Senior Joslyn Young scored a first half goal on a penalty stroke for the Swarthmore College field hockey team (5-9, 1-4), but the Garnet were unable to overcome the Muhlenberg offense, losing 4-1 on Wednesday evening.
Muhlenberg took an early lead in the first half when they converted a penalty stroke but the Garnet responded soon after with a penalty stroke of their own off the stick of Joslyn Young. Unfortunately the Mules put two more in the back of the net in the next five minutes to go up 3-1.
In the second half the Garnet battled to put the game back in reach as they out shot the Mules 7-3 but were unable to get one by their keeper. Muhlenburg went on to score a fourth to win 4-1.
Swarthmore will try to redeem themselves and win its second conference match-up as they host Ursinus on Wednesday October 21st. The game is slated to start at 4:30 PM.
