Mark Anskis Named Sports Information Director

SWARTHMORE, Pa. - Swarthmore College has named Mark Anskis Director of Sports Information.

Anskis, who worked as a graduate assistant in the Temple University Sports Media Relations Office the past two years, will be responsible for the promotion and statistical management of the College's 22 Division III varsity sports. He will also serve as a liaison between the Swarthmore College Department of Athletics and the local and national media through the College's Web site, publications, press releases and new media technologies.

"We are thrilled that Mark is joining our program," said Marian Ware Director of Athletics Adam Hertz. "He comes to Swarthmore very highly recommended and his energy, passion and forward-thinking are qualities that will benefit the entire department."

Anskis replaces former Sports Information Director Kyle Leach, who is currently pursuing a master’s degree in print journalism from Syracuse University.

While at Temple, Anskis served as the primary media contact for the men’s and women’s gymnastics, track and field and tennis teams, as well as the softball, field hockey and fencing teams. He also served as the secondary contact for the men’s basketball and football teams and was instrumental in the development of many of the department’s new media advancements on Owlsports.com.

"I’m honored to be joining such an outstanding department," said Anskis. "Swarthmore College has a reputation that speaks for itself and I’m excited to begin promoting these extraordinary student-athletes."

A native of Elysburg, Pa., Anskis earned his undergraduate degree in political science from Susquehanna University in 2006. He is expected to receive a master’s degree in journalism from Temple University in December 2009.
