Alex Has All the Answers at Glenmaura
MOOSIC, Pa. -- Garnet freshman Alex Nichamin had a top-five finish at the rain-shortened Glenmaura National Collegiate Invitational, firing a four-over par 75 Saturday afternoon.
Heavy rains moved into the Pocono Mountain region, forcing the scheduled two-day tournament to cancel the Monday morning round and revert to a one-day event.
Swarthmore (329) finished 10th out of 12 regional teams over the Glenmaura National Golf Club layout. York (Pa.) was the top team, finishing with a team score of 308, followed by Elizabethtown (310) and McDaniel (310).
Nichamin (Brookville, Pa. / Brookville) finished five shots off the pace set by Susquehanna’s Mitch Mercer (one-under 70). The first-year (pictured above) swung his way to a third top-five finish in 2008-09 after cruising around the 6,308-yard, par-71 course.
The Garnet are spending the week preparing for the 2009 Centennial Conference Championships, set to take place this weekend, April 24-26, at Bridges Golf Club in Abbottstown, Pa.
