Swat Drops Bombs in the Valley
LEBANON, Pa. -- Three Garnet golfers fired 79s as the Swarthmore squad out-ran the rain drops to finish tied for sixth out of 19 schools at the annual Lebanon Valley Spring Invitational Monday afternoon on the Lebanon Country Club par-72 lay-out.
Swarthmore posted a team score of 328, same as Elizabethtown College, finishing behind winner Dickinson College (317), Lebanon Valley College (323), Messiah College (324), Albright College (325) and Keystone College (325).
The Garnet saw three of its players post identical seven-over par scores at a distance of 6,564 yards, including senior Michael Bernasek (Fairfield, Conn. / Hopkins School), Paul Weston ’12 (Westbury, Vt. / Harwood Union) and Alex Nichamin ’12 (Brookville, Pa. / Brookville). Fellow first-year Alex Leichter (Wayland, Mass. / Wayland) rounded out the scoring with a round of 91.
Swarthmore continues a busy week by motoring down Yale Avenue to Spring Haven Country Club to face Widener University on Thursday, April 9. Tee-time is slated for 1:00 p.m.
