Cameron Earns Two Player of the Week Awards
SWARTHMORE, Pa. -- Swarthmore first baseman Michael Cameron '12 was selected as the Centennial Conference Player of the Week and the Division III E.C.A.C. South Region Player of the Week.
Cameron (Calabasas, Calif. / Viewpoint) batted .600 in five games this week for the Garnet, accounting for 12 hits in 15 at-bats with nine runs scored and six runs batted in. The slugger hit his second home run of the season in the 20-10 win over Neumann on March 17 and also accounted for four doubles and a triple on the week.
Cameron leads the Garnet in hits (25), batting average (.463), on-base percentage (.532) and slugging percentage (.741). He tops the Centennial in hits while ranking in the top-five in the other three categories.
Cameron is the second Swarthmore hitter to earn the Centennial weekly accolade in the last two weeks, joining outfielder Mike Waterhouse ‘12. It is the first time in program history for back-to-back recipients.
The Garnet (8-8) will open the 2009 Conference schedule this week with a two-game series against Muhlenberg, and then on Saturday will take travel to McDaniel for a double header.
