Garnet Struggled to Cross the Rhodes
MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- #30 Rhodes remained undefeated as they beat Swarthmore 7-2 in non-conference women's tennis action on Wednesday afternoon.
Rhodes extended their win streak to five in a row while Swarthmore fell to 1-3 overall.
Swarthmore senior Jennie Park (Rockford, Ill. / Guilford) picked-up two wins on the afternoon, in No. 2 singles she defeated Allison Tinney with scores of 7-6 and 6-3. In No. 3 singles Garnet sophomore Luann Cignavitch (Charleston, S.C. / Porter-Gaud School) lost in a super set to Kelsey Mansmann 5-7, 6-1 (10-3).
In No. 1 doubles Park and junior Rachel Wallwork (Washington, D.C. / Georgetown Day) defeated regionally ranked #12 pair Anna Beth Sanford and Mansmann 8-5.
The Garnet will return to their home courts on Saturday, March 21st to open their Centennial Conference schedule. The match will begin at 1:00 p.m.
