Garnet Take Pride in Win

GREENSBORO, N.C. -- The Swarthmore women's lacrosse team defeated Greensboro in a 15-11 non-conference game on Thursday afternoon at Pride Field.

Swarthmore continued their three game win streak while the Pride fell to 0-4 overall. The Garnet took an early lead scoring the first two goals of the game and the closed the first half scoring the final five goals to make the score 8-4 in favor of Swarthmore. Despite the Pride out scoring Swarthmore in the second half 7-6, the Garnet came out on top in the end.

Garnet sophomore Amy Vachal (Somerset, N.J. / Rutgers Prep) registered her third hat-trick of the season scoring a total of four goals. Teammates sophomore Emily Evans (Atlanta, Ga. / North Springs), junior Abbe Muller (West Hartford, Conn. / Conrad), and senior Marissa Schafer (Moreland, Ohio / Laurel School) also added three goals for Swarthmore, while Muller assisted with an additional goal.

Totaling six saves for the Garnet junior Allison Grein (Floral Park, N.Y. / Floral Park) collected her third win between the post this season.

The Garnet will return to the Delaware County and match-up against neighboring Widener on Tuesday, March 17th. The first draw control is scheduled for 5:00 p.m. at Edith R. Dixon Field on the campus of Widener University.
