Garnet Out-Splash Owls
BRYN MAWR, Pa. -- Swarthmore junior Casey Osborn was a triple-winner, pushing the Garnet women's swim team to a 108-62 win over Bryn Mawr in Wednesday night at the Bern Schwartz Gymnasium Complex.
The meet began with Swarthmore winning the 200-yard medley relay, which was led by senior Jessica Pritchett (Burke, Va. / Lake Braddock), freshman Amelia Possanza (Pittsburgh, Pa. / Winchester-Thurston), Osborn (Albany, Calif. / Albany) and freshman Rosalie Lawrence (Santa Cruz, Calif. / Pacific Collegiate School) who combined for a 2:02.53 finish time.
Sophomore Allison Bishop (Macungie, Pa. / Emmaus) finished first in the 1,000-yard freestyle with a time of 11:25.04. She was closely followed by junior Anne Miller (Buffalo, N.Y. / Buffalo Seminary), who touched the boards at 11:32.30.
The Garnet collected the top three places in the 200-yard free with sophomore Chelsea Brett (Mechanicsburg, Pa. / Trinity) leading the way at 2:04.08.
Freshman Naomi Glassman (Palo Alto, Calif. / Henry M. Gunn), junior Claire Shelden (Lewistown, Mont. / Fergus) and sophomore Stephanie Su (Parsippany, N.J. / Parsippany Hills) finished 1-2-3 in the 50-yard freestyle with times of 26.85, 27.21 and 28.53, respectively.
Osborn took the top spot in the 200-yard individual medley with an 2:22.74 race-time before marking her third win of the evening in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:03.34. Miller and Bishop followed suit, taking second and third in the butterfly, with times of 1:03.82 and 1:08.74, respectively.
Brett took top honors in the 100-yard freestyle clocking in at 58.24; she was followed by Shelden at 59.91, good for second place.
The Garnet will travel to Gettysburg along with the Swarthmore men for a Centennial Conference show down. The dual meet is schedule to begin at 2:00 p.m.
