Sharp Bullets Fell Garnet
GETTYSBURG, Pa. -- Swarthmore junior Danny Walker scored 20 points as the Garnet faced its second nationally-ranked opponent in three days, falling to a talented Gettysburg squad, 66-51, on Thursday night at Bream Gymnasium.
The Bullets (10-2, 5-1 CC), a regional semifinalist in the 2008 NCAA Tournament, won their sixth consecutive game following the holiday break to keep pace with Franklin & Marshall atop the Centennial Conference
The Garnet dip to 1-11 overall and 0-6 in the Conference. Walker (Westbury, N.Y / Westbury) found the mark on seven of his 11 attempts from the floor while posting a perfect 5-for-5 effort at the line. Freshman Marc Rogalski (Franklin Lakes, N.J. / Bergen Catholic) hit double figures for the second time in his young collegiate career, posting 11 points.
Gettysburg benefitted from a powerful inside game (50.0% from the floor and a 37-31 rebound advantage) to maintain control, and the lead, throughout. Forward Andrew Powers led all scorers with 23 points and 10 rebounds while guards Dan Capkin (11 points) and Corey Dorsey (10 points) also found double figures.
Swarthmore is half-way through a four-game road trip, bussing down to Baltimore this Saturday, January 17 for a 3:00 p.m. tilt with Centennial-rival Johns Hopkins.
