Garnet Swing Through Northeast PA

CENTER VALLEY, Pa. -- Swarthmore senior Michael Bernasek finished first-day competition at the Muhlenberg College Invitational in the top-25.

The Garnet duffers posted four scores on Sunday afternoon at the par-72, 6646-yard Center Valley Club, putting the team in eighth place (332 points). Trinity (CT) leads the 12-team field with a team score of 300.

Bernasek (Fairfield, Conn. / Hopkins School), posted a one-over 37 on the front side and completed his first round of the season with 80, ranking 22nd out of 64 competitors.  Freshman Paul Weston (Waterbury, Vt. / Harwood Union) excelled in the final nine holes (44-38 = 82) on his way to 32nd position.

The second day of play moves cross town to the Lehigh Country Club.  Tee times start at 10:00 a.m.
