Swarthmore Kicks Past Diplomats

LANCASTER, Pa. -- Swarthmore blanked host Franklin & Marshall, 3-0, in a Centennial Conference men's soccer game on a chilly fall Saturday afternoon at North Campus Athletic Field.

Just four minutes into the game, Swarthmore (10-2-1, 5-1 CC) junior captain Dylan Langley (Honolulu, Hawaii / Iolani School) scored his fifth goal of the season. He received a chip from senior midfielder Yoi Tibbetts (Sandwich, Mass. / Sandwich) that sailed over a Diplomat defender; Langley used a one-touch shot to make the score 1-0.

The second half saw more scoring from Swarthmore. Freshman midfielder Micah Rose (Williston, Vt. / Champlain Valley Union) scored his first collegiate goal in the 52nd minute off a direct kick on the left side of the field. Fellow midfielder Ladule Lako Lo Sarah ’09 (Davis, Calif. / Claremont) scored the final goal of the day when he received a cross from sophomore defender Gage Newman (Cambridge, Mass. / Buckingham Brown & Nicholas).

Garnet freshman goalkeeper David D’Annunzio (Piedmont, Calif. / Piedmont) picked-up his third shut-out of the season.

The Diplomats fall to 7-5-2 overall, 2-2-2 in the Centennial.

The Garnet will finish-up their regular season non-conference schedule on Wednesday, October 22 when they host Immaculata. The match is set to begin at 7:00 p.m. at Clothier Field.
