Garnet Win Seven Sisters Title
NORTHAMPTON, Mass. -- The Swarthmore women's cross country team took first place early Saturday morning, winning their second title since 1989 at the 27th-annual Seven Sisters Cross Country Championship held today at Smith College.
The three top Swarthmore runners made the 2008 Seven Sisters All-Tournament team placing second, third and seventh respectively. Garnet junior Nykia Corbett (Myrtle Point, Ore. Myrtle Point), who finished second out of 72 runners, led the Swarthmore pack. Close on her heels was freshman Melissa Frick (Swarthmore, Pa. / Strath Haven) who placed third overall. Senior Bess Ritter (Quaker Hill, Conn. / Waterford) crossed the finish line at 20:03.90 for a seventh place finish to mark a personal best at the Seven Sisters Championship.
Swarthmore totaled 35 points to out-pace Smith (65), Vassar (73), Wessley (78), Bryn Mawr (144) and Holyoke (145).

Resting up for a week, the Garnet will be gearing up for their Centennial Conference Championships on Saturday, November 1st. The meet will be held at Gettysburg College and is scheduled to start at 11:00 a.m.
