#4 Bears Trap Garnet

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. -- Fourth-ranked Ursinus opened the 2008 season on Thursday night with a 12-0 win over Swarthmore in the Centennial Conference opener for both teams.

Ursinus (1-0, 1-0 CC) scored four times in the first 8:29 of the contest en route to the victory, the third straight year the Bears have won the season opener.

For the Garnet (1-2, 0-1 CC), sophomore goalkeeper Katie Ashmore (Princeton, N.J. / Princeton Day) made 11 saves in the first half, while junior goalkeeper Gina Grubb (Pittsburgh, Pa. / Oakland Catholic)  made eight saves in the second half.

The Garnet will continue to on their four-game road trip on Tuesday, September 9th when they take on non-conference opponent Knights at 4:00 p.m. on the campus of Neumann College.
