Garnet Edges Red Devils
CARLISLE, Pa. -- The Swarthmore women's tennis (7-4, 6-1 CC) team picked up an 6-3 win when they traveled to Dickinson (8-6, 4-3 CC) for a Centennial Conference match on Thursday afternoon.
Rachel Wallwork ’10 (Washington, D.C. / Georgetown Day) and Jennie Park ’09 (Rockford, Ill. / Guilford) rolled past the Dickinson number one doubles team with a score of 8-1 for the only Garnet doubles win of the match.
Wallwork is back on the winning side of the court with scores of 6-2 and 6-0, while Park won her fourth singles match this spring with scores of 6-4 and 7-6 (7-4). With a pair of 6-4 scores Midyette downed Dickinson’s number three singles. Freshman Luann Cignavitch (Charleston, S.C. / Porter-Gaud School) went to three sets for the win with scores of 6-4, 2-6 and 6-4.
The Garnet will continue Centennial Conference action on Saturday, April 12 when they host Muhlenberg at 11:00 a.m.
